The paintings come first, and they’re slow. North Light took six weeks because I kept scraping the ultramarine back and starting the layer again. A painting’s finished when it stops asking questions, which is not a date anyone can put in a calendar.

Songs happen in the gaps. Oil needs days between layers, so those afternoons go to the harmonium in the next room, usually with paint still on my hands. Low Tide Songs was recorded that way over one wet spring, almost entirely after dark.

Modeling started as a way to pay for linen. It stayed because standing inside someone else’s frame taught me things no easel could: where a shoulder has to sit before a picture holds together, how long a pose lasts before it goes dead. Mara Lindqvist shoots on film and makes you wait between frames. You learn a lot in that wait.

Everything here sells direct. Originals and a short print run go through this site, six commissions get taken on a year, and the records live on Bandcamp. I say yes to modeling bookings when the project already knows what it wants to look like.
